Lift Lobby: Toorak Rd, Camberwell

This lift lobby on Toorak Road, Camberwell, works more like a passageway than a room, so every element had to earn its place. The aim was to make a narrow, functional space feel welcoming without getting in the way of people moving through it.

Dark grey floor tiles ground the space, while vertical timber panelling brings warmth and texture to the walls. A green velvet accent chair on a soft round rug creates a small place to pause, and planters of greenery soften the line of the corridor.

It was a small project, but a rewarding one. A few considered moves have turned a transitional space into a calm, welcoming arrival for the building’s tenants and visitors.
